Red Starr, Elmer – Bowl with Bears and Hopi Design (1978)

3.25"w x 3"h

$ 400.00

Red Starr (Sioux) was married to Santa Clara potter Harriet Tafoya and learned to make Santa Clara pottery.  This is a larger piece of his pottery.  The bowl is highly stone polished.  There is a medallion with a realistic bear surrounded by feathers.  The next medallion is a fetish bear surrounded by feathers.  The final medallion is a famous Hopi design with two hummingbirds and a flower in the center.  It is very detailed and striking in appearance.  The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Red Starr”.
