Red Starr (Sioux) was married to Santa Clara potter Harriet Tafoya and learned to make Santa Clara pottery.  This is a fully polished bowl that was fired black.  On the top is an etched feather design.  On the sides, there is a Sun Face medallion and a medallion with a Mudhead Katsina.  Separating the medallions are two etched eagle feathers on each side of the bowl. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Red Starr”.
