Red Starr (Sioux) was married to Santa Clara potter Harriet Tafoya and learned to make Santa Clara pottery.  This jar is coil built and highly polished.  It is from 1987.  There is a medallion on one side with a bear and the opposite with a bear paw.  On each side of the neck are star designs inset with turquoise.  Near the base are two inset pieces of Lapis.  The jar is very intricate for the size.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay.
