Red Starr, Elmer – Seedpot with Deer and Feathers (2012)
Red Starr (Sioux) was married to Santa Clara potter Harriet Tafoya and learned to make Santa Clara pottery. This is a larger seedpot that is fully designed. There are dee on each side. Below the deer are feather and geometric patterns. The cloud pattern extends up to the top and there is a sun design. It is inset with four pieces of turquoise. Nearly the entire surface is fully designed. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Red Starr”.
