Roller, Cliff – Large Canteen with Carved Corn Designs and Handles (2002)

8.5"w x 5.5"h

$ 1,400.00

Cliff Roller is a son of noted potter Toni Roller. Each piece is coil-built, carved, and stone-polished.  This is a large, wide shoulder canteen. The canteen has two fully polished handles.  On the top of the shoulder there are carved stalks of corn.  Above them are rain and a rainbow.  Near the handles are cloud designs.  The piece was fired to a deep, glassy black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Cliff Roller”.  This canteen is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  While Cliff makes very little pottery these days, his work remains a statement to his skill as a potter!
