Susan Roller Whittington (b. 1955) is a daughter of Toni Roller and a granddaughter of Margaret Tafoya.  She is the mother of Charles Lewis.  She learned to make pottery from her mother.  While she no longer makes pottery, most of her pieces were made during the 1980-90s.  There is always creativity and elegance to her work.  This bowl is deeply carved with 12 melon ribs. They are symmetrically carved into the clay.  Each rib is stone polished.  The bowl is fired a deep black.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Susan Roller”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
