Romero, Santiago – “Daybreak” Tall Jar
$ 1,500.00
Santiago Romero is the son of noted Cochiti potter Diego Romero and nephew of Mateo Romero. In the past, he made figurative clay coyotes and smaller vessels. He is also known for his oil paintings, as he won “Best of Paintings” at the 2025 Santa Fe Indian Market. This jar is coil-built and has a round shape and turned out rim. The jar was fired and then painted. The jar is entitled, “Daybreak”. The jar has the hills and mesas in blue, just like a New Mexico morning when you have the yellow skies and the all the mountains look blue in contrast. It’s a beautiful moment every day! The rim and the inside rim have gold leafing. The jar is a creative departure from his paintings on canvas. It is signed on the bottom. It is exciting to see a new generation of Cochiti potters creating new stories in clay!
