Romero, Santiago – “Sunset on the Mesas” Tall Jar
$ 1,500.00
Santiago Romero is the son of noted Cochiti potter Diego Romero and nephew of Mateo Romero. In the past, he made figurative clay coyotes and smaller vessels. He is also known for his oil paintings, as he won “Best of Paintings” at the 2025 Santa Fe Indian Market. This jar is coil-built and has a round shape and turned out rim. The jar was fired and then painted. The jar is entitled, “Sunset on the Mesas”. The jar has orange-red colored mesas with the soft blue skies of the beginnings of a New Mexico sunset. The rim and the inside rim have gold leafing. The jar is a creative departure from his paintings on canvas. It is signed on the bottom. It is exciting to see a new generation of Cochiti potters creating new stories in clay!
