Finkel Sahmie (b. 1948) is a great-grandson of Annie Healing Nampeyo, a grandson of Rachel Nampeyo, and a son of Priscilla Nampeyo.  He is a brother of Rachel Sahmie, Jean Sahme, Bonnie Nampeyo, and Nyla Sahmie.  This small bowl was made in 1979 and part of the “Nampeyo” exhibition at Adobe Gallery in 1983 and featured in the catalog.  It has a series of small bird wings encircling the piece.  It is signed on the bottom, “Finkle Sahmie”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  While small, definitely a unique piece by a potter who made few pieces over the years and with great provenance.
