Sahneyha, Madeline – Large Bowl with Eagle Tail Design (1990s)

9"w x 4.5"h

$ 900.00

Madeline Sayneyha is a cousin of potter Mark Tahbo.  In the 1990s, she began making elegant coil-built and traditionally fired Hopi-Tewa pottery.  She was quickly known for her thin painted lines and dynamic firing. This bowl is thin-walled and painted with bee-weed and red clay.  There are two sections with eagle tail designs.  The separating sections have dragonflies along with mesa and cloud patterns.  The bowl was traditionally fired with striking fire clouds across the surface.  It is signed on the bottom, “M. Sahneyha”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
