Sahu, Jeanette – Bowl with Rain Designs
Jeanette Sahu is from Walpi, Hopi. She began making pottery in the 1970s. Each piece is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and natural clay slips. This bowl is slipped with white clay and then painted. There are clouds and rain designs around the shoulder. Inside the bowl, it is slipped and polished red. The bowl was traditionally fired. It is signed, “Janette Sahu, Walpi”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
