Sahu, Jeanette – Jar with Cloud and Rain Designs
Jeanette Sahu is from Walpi, Hopi. She began making pottery in the 1970s. Each piece is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and natural clay slips. This jar is slipped with white clay and then painted. There are cloud designs around the shoulder. Below are rain and geometric patterns. The jar was traditionally fired. It is signed, “Janette Sahu, Walpi”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
