Alfonso Sakeva (b. 1952) is the husband of Vernida Sakeva and the son of Beth Sakeva. This is the only piece of his work we have had in the gallery. It is an open bowl made from Hopi clay and painted with bee-weed (black). It is a very tightly painted Shalako Katsina. Note the ears of corn as part of the tablita! Beautiful painting! The outside rim has a cloud designs. It was traditionally fired. It is signed, “A. Sakeva”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
