Lilly Salvador is known for her thin-walled pottery and use of native materials to paint her designs.   This is one of the largest pieces of her pottery we have had in the gallery.  It is a round jar with handles.  The entire surface is tightly painted with a lighting design.  There are lightning patterns around the neck and more stylized designs around the body of the jar.  Amazingly, the entire surface is fully designed.  It is painted with bee-weed (black), which is a plant.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Maria Lilly”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
