Lilly Salvador is known for her thin-walled pottery and use of native materials to paint her designs. This jar is painted with bee-weed and four different clay slips. The jar has a high shoulder and short neck. It is entitled, “Rain” and the entire jar is painted with interlocking fine-line rain and star patterns. The lines are amazing on this piece! The base is slipped with red clay. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Maria Lilly”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Lilly Salvador is a daughter of Frances Torivio and a niece of Lolita Concho. Her sisters Wanda Aragon and Ruth Paisano are also potters. Lilly is known for her revival of historic designs on her traditionally built and fired pottery. She has won numerous awards since the early 1970s at Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Indian Market.
