Lilly Salvador is known for her thin-walled pottery and use of native materials to paint her designs.  This jar is painted with bee-weed and three different red clay slips.  The jar is entitled, “Summer Rain”.  The neck has delicately painted rain clouds.  Above the shoulder are alternating birds and finline stars.  Below the shoulder are more stylized birds in another clay color, again separated by star designs.  All the various colors are from natural clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Maria Lilly”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
