This is a classic jar by Angelita Sanchez. Angelita was a daughter of Isabel Antencio and a sister of painter Gilbert Atencio and potter Helen Gutierrez. It is a water jar with a sharp shoulder and sloping sides. It is painted with lighting, rain, and mountain designs. The jar was traditionally fired a deep black coloration. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Angelita”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

This is a wonderful bowl by Angelita Sanchez. The shape of the bowl has a low, sharp shoulder which works nicely to create a larger painted surface. The design is a cloud, rain and lightning pattern which encircles the piece. The bowl is highly polished and fired to a near-gunmetal appearance. It is signed on the bottom, “Angelita” and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. There are a few light surface scratches. It is rare that we see her pottery so this is certainly a wonderful find!
