This bear-lidded bowl by Russell Sanchez is from 1998.  The bowl has both polished and micaceous areas. The rim is polished green, and the body is slipped with a green micaceous clay.  They are separated by a row of shell hei-shi beads.  The bowl is etched with an avanyu into the clay.  Note the sun, clouds, and little bear paw above the avanyu!  The lid is fully polished red.  The inside of the legs are slipped with green mica clay.  The contrasts of the green and red clays are visually striking!   The bowl and the lid are both signed in the clay, “Russell Sanchez”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
