Russell Sanchez continues to be one of the true innovators in Pueblo pottery.  Each piece is coil-built, stone-polished, and traditionally fired.  This bowl is coil-built and polished on the rim and base.  It is etched around the body of the bowl with an avanyu and the central band is micaceous.  The bowl was fired black, and the rim was two-toned green after the firing.  There is a single inset piece of turquoise for the eye of the avanyu.  The bowl is signed, “Russell Sanchez”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
