Mary Scarborogh (1939-2016) was a daughter of Barbarita Naranjo and a granddaughter of Pasqualita Tafoya. She was a sister of Veronica Naranjo. This is one of the largest pieces I have seen of her work. It is coil-built and very deeply carved. There is a flower, rain, lightning and mountain pattern carved into the clay. It is highly polished and fired red. The carving is deep for the size of the piece. It is signed on the bottom, “Mary”.
