$ 800.00

Pauline Talasyousia (Setalla) (b. 1930) married Justin Navasie Setalla.  She was raised in the village of Mishongovi and learned to make pottery from her mother-in-law, Agnes Navasie, and her sister-in-law, Eunice “Fawn” Navasie.  She had ten children, including Dee Setalla, Agnes Nasonhoya, Gwen Setalla, and Stetson Setalla, who are each potters.  This is one of her classic wedding vases from the 1970s. The piece has a very round body with elongated spouts and a handle.  The top of the handle is painted with a feather design.  The body of the wedding vase has swirling birds on each side.  The black is bee-weed, and the white and red are clay slips.  It was traditionally fired, creating striking colorations that range from pink to tan.  The wedding vase is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed, “Pauline Setalla”.
