6.75"w x 9"h

$ 625.00

Stetson Setalla is a grandson of Paqua Naha (Frogwoman) and the son of Pauline Setalla. His brother Dee and sisters Gwen Setalla and Agnes Nahsonhoya also make pottery. Stetson began making pottery at the age of 19.  This is a tall jar that is coil-built.  It is painted on the outside with three different clay slips along with bee-weed (black).  The jar has four panels, each with two hummingbirds.  Each pair of hummingbird share a body and tail in the design. The design is created to portray a sense of movement in the birds across the jar.  The background has been stippled with bee-weed to add additional coloration.  There are strong blushes from the firing. It is signed on the back.  It is signed with his name “S. Setalla” and a raincloud.
