Ethel Shields (b. 1928) is a daughter of Dolores Sanchez and the mother of Charmae Natseway and Judy Shields.  While she no longer makes pottery, she was known for her figurative works over the years.  This jar is a creative piece of her pottery.  The jar has a wide, sharp shoulder and a corrugated neck. The neck has two rows of corrugation.  The top of the shoulder is painted with four moth patterns.  They are stylized and have an additional red clay slip and thin lines.  It is signed on the bottom, “Ethel”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
