5.75"w x 7.5"h

$ 650.00

Ethel Shields (1926-2021) was a daughter of Dolores Sanchez and the mother of Charmae Natseway and Judy Shields.  She was known for her figurative works over the years.  This is one of her figurative jars inspired by the pottery of Chaco Canyon. The jar is coil-built and painted with bee-weed. There is a deer on one side and a bird on the other.  The front has a lightning pattern. There is a mountain lion as the handle!  It is a creative and charming piece.  It is not just a creative form but nicely painted to match the form.  It is signed on the bottom, “Ethel”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
