Juanita Shije was originally from Acoma Pueblo and married and moved to Zia Pueblo. She is the mother of Yvonne Shije Grayson, and Cornelia J. Shije. Juanita exhibited her pottery at Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show starting in 1997. This large bowl is coil-built. It is painted with large roadrunners, plant, and rain designs. The interior is red. It is a graphic use of traditional Zia designs. The bowl is signed, “JS”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
