Helen Shupla was famous for her carved pottery as well as her exceptional melon jars.  This wedding vase is an early piece of her pottery.  It has the classic double spouts and a twisted handle. Around the body of the piece there is a deeply carved avanyu. The entire piece is fully polished and fired a deep black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom, “Helen Shupla.” It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
