Shutiva-Hista, Jackie – Corrugated Clay Owl Figure
$ 350.00
Jackie Shutiva-Hista (b. 1961) is a daughter of noted potter Stella Shutiva. She learned to make pottery from her mother who was known for her corrugated pottery. This is one of her classic corrugated owls. The entire surface is corrugated with added beak, eyes, and wings. It is a charming piece! “Corrugated” is a technique that simply means that the coils are left exposed and are pressed down using a tool or the potter’s finger. Jackie typically uses her finger to impress the clay, creating this stylistic appearance. The jar is signed on the bottom, “J. H. Shutiva”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
