Noreen Simplicio is known for her whimsical pottery which is inspired by classic Zuni designs. This large jar is exceptional!  It is coil-built and thin-walled.  The shape has a wide shoulder and a short neck.  It is painted black-on-white.  The jar has swirling clouds around the neck.  There are thin lines for the rain on the top of the shoulder.  At the shoulders are lightning designs.  It is perfectly painted and an elegant combination of form and design.  It is signed on the bottom, “Noreen Simplicio”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

“My unique pottery forms are characterized by distinctive designs that combine traditional Zuni pottery symbols with contemporary design elements of my own creation. I make great use of fine lines, birds, and animal symbols. The scenes depicted on my work often stress the universal harmony that should be maintained among all living things.”
