Sisneros, Jerry – Wide Red Jar with Avanyu
Jerry Sisneros learned to make pottery from his mother, Olaria Sisneros. He was never prolific but created well polished and intricately painted pieces. This wide jar has a sharp shoulder and a short sloping neck. The jar is painted red-on-red with a very very complex avanyu (water serpent). It is a striking combination of design and color. The jar is signed on the bottom, “JMS”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
