This is a classic melon jar by Anita Suazo.  She is a daughter of noted potter Belen Tapia.  This is one of her traditional vessels with deeply carved melon ribs.  The jar has 24 straight ribs and the entire piece is fully polished.  The jar is fired a deep black.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Anita Suazo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
