Celes Tafoya was a daughter of Legoria Tafoya and a nice of Pablita Velarde and Jane Baca. She often worked in collaboration with her mother, Legoria Tafoya, until her death in 1984. She also worked with her daughter Evelyn Tafoya. This is a round jar with an elongated neck.  The neck is fully polished. The body of the jar has an avanyu encircling the piece.  The jar is highly polished and fired a deep black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Celes & Evelyn”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
