Doug Tafoya (Cain) (b. 1942) is a son of noted potter Mary Cain and grandson of Christina Naranjo.  He is a brother of Tina Diaz, Linda Cain, Joy Cain, and Billy Cain.  This bowl is coil-built and has a distinctive form. There is a sharp double shoulder and the piece is fully polished.  It was traditionally fired to a glassy deep black coloration.  The bowl is signed, “Doug Tafoya”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  While Doug no longer makes pottery, his work is a striking reflection of the Cain family style.
