This is a lager clay bear by Juan Tafoya.  It is from 1985.  The bear is coil built and it is fully polished.  It has Juan’s iconic style of a bear with a short head and rounded legs. The inside of the legs is matte.  There is an inset turquoise for each of the eyes.  It was traditionally fired black and there is a sienna band across the back of the bear.  The bear is signed in the clay on the bottom, “Juan Tafoya”.  It is in excellent good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
