Judy and Lincoln Tafoya (1954-2005) worked together for twenty years making pottery. Lincoln learned to make pottery from his sister-in-law Sharon Naranjo Garcia. He was a son of Dan Tafoya and Billie Rose Lee. Judy is a daughter of Cecilia Naranjo and learned to make pottery from her grandmother, Christina Naranjo. Judy began making pottery in 1982 and married Lincoln in 1984. This piece is from 1998. It has 16 feathers carved around the body of the piece. The entire piece is fully polished. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Judy and Lincoln Tafoya”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

Description
Judy and Lincoln Tafoya (1954-2005) worked together for twenty years making pottery. Lincoln learned to make pottery from his sister-in-law Sharon Naranjo Garcia. He was a son o Dan Tafoya and Billie Rose Lee. Judy is a daughter of Cecilia Naranjo and learned to make pottery from her grandmother, Christina Naranjo. Judy began making pottery in 1982 and married Lincoln in 1984. This is an early piece of their pottery that has a round body and a short neck. The design is a water serpent that is carved into the clay. But note the use of the negative space and the flow of the design, as one can very easily see the influence of Christina Naranjo in this jar! The piece is highly polished and fired a deep, glassy black. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Judy and Lincoln Tafoya”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
