Laura Tafoya (b. 1946) is a daughter of noted potter Madeline Tafoya.  She began making pottery in 1979.  Each piece is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired.  This bowl is deeply carved with a water serpent as the design.  The avanyu is carved in a reverse manner, which is unusual.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Laura T.”  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
