This jar is a classic carved jar by Lee Tafoya and his wife, Betty Tafoya.  Lee was the only son of Margaret Tafoya to make pottery.  The jar was made and carved by Lee and then polished by Betty.  The piece has two sections of interlocking rain designs.  The entire piece is highly polished and fired to a silvery black.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Betty & Lee Tafoya”.  It is dated from 1977.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
