LuAnn Tafoya is a daughter of Margaret Tafoya and known for her large, highly polished pottery.  This bowl is polished and fired red.  It is a modernist version of the classic “gourd” bowl.  On this piece, she has flattened each of the eight sections to create a faceted appearance. The rim of the bowl is rounded out or scalloped.  There is a carved band under each of the flat areas.  It is highly polished and traditionally fired a deep red.  t is signed on the bottom in the clay, “LuAnn Tafoya”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
