Phillis Tafoya (b. 1955) isa granddaughter of Christina Naranjo and a daughter of Mida Tafoya.  She is the wife of Matthew Tafoya. This bowl is coil-built and deeply carved.  There are cloud, rain, and lightning designs encircling the bowl  It is fully polished and fired a deep black.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Phyllis Tafoya”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  While Phillis makes little pottery today, her work is beautiful in form, design, and polish.
