Tafoya, Ray – Black Seedpot with Hummingbirds (1990s)

1.25"w x 1.25"h

$ 300.00

This is a very complex seedpot by Ray Tafoya for the size.  It is fully polished and etched with two hummingbirds and a flower. The hummingbirds are more detailed than usual on his work.  All the various colors are derived from natural clay slips.  It is a complex piece for the size.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay with his hallmark mountain, meaning “White Moutain” which was his name in Tewa.  The seedpot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  Today, his legacy continues with the pottery of his daughter, Jennifer Tafoya.
