This seedpot by Ray Tafoya is fully polished and round in shape.  It has a Mimbres bird on one side. The eye of the bird is a piece of turquoise hei-shi.  Opposite the bird is a Mimbres fish.  There is also a fish in the bird’s beak.  It is a complex series of designs on the piece.  The designs are etched into the clay and highlighted with additional colors of clay slips.  All the different colors are derived from natural clay slips.  The seedpot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with his hallmark which means “White Mountain” in Tewa.
