Tafoya, Ray – Long Neck Jar with Bear and Falconer (1985)

This is a classic long neck jar by Ray Tafoya. The jar is fully polished and fired a deep black coloration. There is a Mimbres style bear on one side. The opposite side has a falconer with a bird on his arm. The neck of the jar has a feather pattern. There are additional geometric design across the surface of the jar. The piece is highlighted with blue and red clay slips. The bear has attached coral and turquoise. The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay with his hallmark (meaning White Mountain) and the date.
