This is a detailed oval seedpot by Ray Tafoya.  The piece is fully polished and oval in shape.  It is one of his iconic green polished pieces.  The seedpot has a Deer Hunter on one side, extending up onto the top of the piece.  He is wearing a wold headdress and holding a whistle and antlers.  As the piece is turned, there are geometric prayer feathers and rain designs.  There is a graceful beauty in the detail of this piece.  Note how many of the designs surrounding the butterfly are similar to ones used today by his daughter, Jennifer Tafoya.  The seedpot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with his hallmark which means “White Mountain” in Tewa.
