This small seedpot by Ray Tafoya is fully polished and has a round in shape.  It is fully polished red and then the designs are etched into the clay. There is a Mimbres Elk as the main design.  Note the small elk tracks near its feet!  The elk is surrounded by plant designs.  The designs are etched into the clay and highlighted with additional colors of clay slips.  All the different colors are derived from natural clay slips.  The seedpot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with his hallmark which means “White Mountain” in Tewa.
