This is an exceptional lidded jar by Ray Tafoya.  The jar is oval in shape. There are large incised hummingbirds on each side.  They are surrounded by flowers.  The lid is a bear with a heartline.  One side of the heartline is blue, the other red.  The designs are all accented with additional clay colors of red, yellow, white, and blue.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay with his hallmark, “White Mountain”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  Note how many of the geometric designs are similar to ones used today by his daughter, Jennifer Tafoya.
