Stephanie Tafoya is a great-granddaughter of Margaret Tafoya, a granddaughter of Lee Tafoya, and the daughter of Mel Tafoya. She has learned to make pottery from her aunt, Linda Tafoya-Sanchez, and is currently working on perfecting her techniques with Nathan Youngblood.  Each piece is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired.  This is a large seedpot that creates the shape of a sunflower.  The top is matte and carved in a spiral pattern. The sides are the petals of the flower and they are fully polished.  The bottom has the flower’s leaves.  The piece is highly polished and fired a deep red coloration! Her name in Tewa is “Khung Be”, which means Holly Berry which she signs as a hallmark along with her name.
