Dianna Tahbo was known for her tightly painted pottery and especially her beautiful miniatures. This bowl is thin-walled and has a round shoulder and sloping neck. It is painted with bee-weed to create the black. There are eight cloud designs encircling the shoulder of the bowl. They are either fully painted or stippled with black. Do you know how Dianna would stipple the black areas? She would use a wooden matchstick and dip it into the bee-weed and then dab the black on the jar! Along the neck of the bowl are lines representing rain. The bowl was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface. The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Dianna Tahbo” with a pipe for Tobacco Clan. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
