Tahbo, Dianna – Polychrome Swirling Sikyatki Birds (1994)

5.5"w x 3.5"h

$ 800.00

Dianna Tahbo was known for her tightly painted pottery and especially her beautiful miniatures.  This bowl is thin-walled and has a round shoulder.   It is painted with bee-weed and various colors of clay slip.  There are four swirling birds on each of the four sides.  Each has a center circular section painted in bee-weed (black), red, orange, or mauve clay.  The top of the design has white clay highlights.  The bowl was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface.  The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Dianna Tahbo” with a pipe for Tobacco Clan.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
