Tanner , Roy & Stella – Seedpot with Mustang (1978)
$ 150.00
Stella Tanner (Kwa Povi) and her son Roy (Tsigowanu) began making pottery together in 1976. Stella was a granddaughter of Luteria Atencio, a daughter of Crucita Talalchy, and a sister of Mary Gutierrez and Joe Talachy. It was Luteria who taught them both to make pottery. Stella made and polished the pottery and Roy etched the designs into the surface. This seepdot is polished tan. It is etched with a mustang on one side. The remainder is fully polished. It was made in 1978. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed on the bottom, “Kwa Povi & Tsigowanu”. They stopped working around 1985 but during their brief career as potters, they won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market and Eight Northern Indian Market.
