Torivio, Dorothy – Small Jar with Interlocking Yucca Leaf Designs

1.75"w x 1.75"h

$ 375.00

This is a classic-shaped jar by Dorothy Torivio.  She was among the first to utilize and then refine the “op-art” style in her Acoma pottery. She took classic Acoma patterns and then repeated them on a vessel, ranging the size from small to large and then small again, in accordance with the shape of the vessel.  The shape of the jar is one that Dorothy created to accentuate her designs with a round shoulder and short neck. The neck is painted red and the body of the piece has interlocking yucca leaf designs.  It is the yucca leaves that she would use to paint the pottery!  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Dorothy Torivio” and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
