Trujillo, Adrian – 14″ Tall Four Color Water Jar with Heartline Deer and Bears

13"w x 14"h

$ 3,000.00

Adrian Trujillo is a descendant of noted Acoma potter Sarah Garcia.  He is known for his large and intricately painted vessels.  This exceptional jar is coil-built and painted with bee weed (black) and red clay slip.  The jar has a sharp shoulder and a sloping neck.  The neck has four heartline bears underneath rainbow designs.  Separating the rainbows are thin-lined rain clouds.  Around the body fo the jar are large heartline deer.  The deer are surrounded by rain, plant, and rainbow designs.  There are two different colors of red on the rainbow separating the deer.  The jar is not just an exceptional size, but the detail in the painting matches the scale of the jar.   There is striking precision and symmetry to the designs and complicated style of painting!  The base is slipped red and indented, in the traditional Acoma manner.  It is signed on the bottom, “Adrian Trujillo”.
